History
Edamitsu Station is a JR Kyushu station on the Kagoshima Main Line in Yahatahigashi-ku, Kitakyushu, located 20.0 km from the line's start at Mojikō. The Japanese Government Railways opened the station on 1 April 1908 on its section of track between Moji and Yatsushiro; in October and November 1909 it was successively folded into the Hitoyoshi Main Line and then the Kagoshima Main Line. The station was bombed during the Kitakyushu air raid of June 1944 and rebuilt; its current elevated layout dates from the 1 October 1966 quadruple-tracking of the Kokura–Orio segment, which also retired a former works-railway connection. JR Kyushu inherited the station at privatization on 1 April 1987.

Notes
Edamitsu was used as the closest station for Space World theme park when it opened in 1990, until a dedicated Space World Station was built in 1999 and that role transferred there.
