History
Dobashi Station opened on 15 April 1953 as a new intermediate halt added to the Iyo Railway Gunchū Line between Doida and Matsuyamashi. A taxi office was set up on the premises in February 1962, station-building rationalisation work was completed in August 1968, and station operations were outsourced in March 1972. After more than half a century, the original building was replaced: demolition began in December 2013 and the new building entered service on 22 February 2014, at which time slope access was finally installed.

Notes
The columns supporting the platform canopy at Dobashi are made from second-hand rails manufactured by Carnegie Steel of the United States in 1896 for Japan's Hankaku Railway; how these Meiji-era rails ended up in Matsuyama is unrecorded.
