History

Kikugaoka Station opened on 9 January 1985 as the southern terminus of the Kitakyushu Monorail Kokura Line, the inaugural section of Kyushu's first urban monorail. Located in Kikugaoka 2-chōme, Kokuraminami Ward, it carries station number 13. The elevated stop has two side platforms and two tracks, but in routine service only platform 1 is used; platform 2 is reserved for occasional alighting movements connected with the adjacent depot. The line's train depot and the Kitakyushu Urban Monorail head office sit immediately east of the station. Mono SUGOCA IC card support was added on 1 October 2015.

Notes

The monorail's adjacent depot is laid out in a tight spiral, and the surrounding plantings are arranged so that the company logo and the word "MONORAIL" are visible from the air.
