History

Tosa-Kitagawa Station opened on 1 October 1960 on the Dosan Line, at the time under Japanese Government Railways and subsequently Japanese National Railways. Following track-realignment works the station was relocated to its present position on 3 March 1986, where it now sits on an iron bridge spanning the Ananai River. With the privatization of JNR on 1 April 1987 control passed to JR Shikoku. The unstaffed station consists of a narrow island platform serving two tracks, reached by stairs from both ends of the bridge leading to a pedestrian walkway along its length, with an intermediate landing waiting room.
