History
Kashii-Jingū Station was opened by JR Kyushu on 13 March 1988 as an additional stop on the existing Kashii Line, in Higashi-ku, Fukuoka. A predecessor "Kashii-Miya-mae" halt had operated 0.4 km away under the Hakata Bay Railway and Steamship Company from 1924, was promoted to a regular stop in 1935, and was abolished in 1942. The new purpose-built shed opened on 21 July 1988 and was staffed on a contract basis from that date. Automatic ticket gates entered service on 7 June 2000, SUGOCA IC card use began on 1 March 2009, and on 14 March 2015 the station was de-staffed under the remote "Smart Support Station" scheme. It is the nearest station to Kashii-gū.

Notes
Although the station name implies it serves a jingū-class shrine, Kashii-gū is technically a gū rather than a jingū; the formal "Kashii-Jingū" misnomer in fact derives from the station name itself.
