History
Iyo-Nakayama Station opened on 3 March 1986 as one of three intermediate stations on a new stretch of track linking Mukaibara to the Uchiko Line, completing what would become the Uchiko branch of the Yosan Line. With the privatisation of JNR on 1 April 1987 the station passed to JR Shikoku. It carries the station number U08 and sits 218.7 km from the line origin at Takamatsu in the mountainous Nakayama district of Iyo, Ehime. The platform was built long enough for eight-car limited expresses on the assumption it would be a major stop, but its distance from the town centre limited demand and today only seven limited-express services per day call. The station was de-staffed in March 2021.

Notes
The platform was built long enough for an eight-car limited express because the station was originally planned as a major stop, but most expresses now pass through without stopping.
