History

Najima Station opened on 23 May 1924 as a stop on the Hakata Bay Railway and Steamship Company line, the predecessor of today's Nishitetsu Kaizuka Line. Nishitetsu absorbed the operator on 19 September 1942. The station was rebuilt in 1959 and then relocated and reopened in its present form on 2 August 2004, with the new building designed in a Japanese style as a nod to the long-vanished Najima Castle that once stood nearby. Station numbering NK02 was introduced on 1 February 2017, and the centralised remote-management system entered trial operation on 1 October 2024 ahead of full rollout on 1 April 2025.

Notes

The 2004 station building is styled after Najima Castle, the long-demolished fortress that once stood nearby.
