History

Fujisaki Station opened on 26 July 1981 with the inaugural section of the Fukuoka City Subway Line 1 (now Airport Line). It was reclassified as a business-outsourced station on 1 April 2020 when the Meinohama managed area was abolished and absorbed into the Tenjin managed area. The station's platforms sit roughly 22 m below ground beneath the Meiji-dōri Fujisaki intersection, making this the deepest stop on the Airport Line; an unused 23 m tunnel extension toward Meinohama has been pre-built at platform width to accommodate any future eight-car-train conversion. The station code is K03.

Notes

Fujisaki's roughly 23-metre tunnel section toward Meinohama was deliberately built with a widened cross-section — broad enough to be converted into platform — so a future eight-car-train extension could be slotted in without further excavation.
