History

Shimoōri Station opened on 12 April 1924 in what is now the city of Ōnojō, Fukuoka Prefecture. The station is operated by the private Nishi-Nippon Railroad on its Tenjin Ōmuta Line and carries station number T14, located 11.6 kilometres from the line's starting point at Nishitetsu Fukuoka (Tenjin). As part of a grade-separation project, the station was relocated to a new elevated structure on 28 August 2022. The current facility consists of two elevated side platforms with the station building beneath them, and remains staffed. The surrounding area in the southeastern corner of Ōnojō serves as a bus interchange for residential developments at the city's southern edge.
