History
Nishi-Tachiarai Station opened on 28 April 1939 as an intermediate stop on the Japanese Government Railways' Amagi Line when through-service between Kiyama and Amagi began. In 1960 it became a business-commissioned station, and on 10 February 1972 baggage handling was discontinued and the station was destaffed. On 1 April 1986 control was transferred to the third-sector Amagi Railway. Although the station's address sits in the town of Tachiarai, most of its single side platform extends across the boundary into the neighbouring city of Ogōri. The station has no building, only an enclosed platform shelter for waiting passengers.
