History
Tosa-Shinjō Station opened on 15 November 1939 when the Dosan Line was extended westwards from Susaki to Tosa-Kure. At its opening the station was operated by Japanese Government Railways and later passed to Japanese National Railways. It was destaffed in October 1970 and downgraded to a kan'i itaku ticketing arrangement, and at the same time hand-baggage and parcel handling was discontinued. With the 1 April 1987 privatisation of JNR, control passed to JR Shikoku. The station consists of a single side platform serving one track, with a weather shelter on the platform — the former wooden station building was demolished — and the platform is reached by a ramp from the access road.
