History
Rokutanji Station opened on 15 April 1961 as a new infill station on the existing Dosan Line under Japanese National Railways, handling passenger traffic only and unstaffed from the outset. At the 1 April 1987 JNR privatisation, control of the station passed to JR Shikoku. The unstaffed station consists of a single side platform serving a single track, with no station building; a roughly 4 m × 2 m wooden box-shaped waiting hut stands on the platform itself. Located in the town of Shimanto, Takaoka District, Kōchi Prefecture, Rokutanji sits 192.2 km from the Tadotsu end of the Dosan Line.
