History
Matsuchi Station is in Matsuno, Ehime Prefecture, on JR Shikoku's Yodo Line (station number G36, 51.3 km from Wakai). The station opened on 1 October 1960 as an unstaffed halt under Japanese National Railways, serving diesel-railcar passengers only. Following the privatisation of JNR on 1 April 1987, control passed to JR Shikoku. It consists of a single side platform serving one track, with a passenger shelter on the platform and a small waiting room and toilet shed immediately behind. A ramp from the access road provides wheelchair-accessible entry, and a bike shed and public telephone are sited next to it.

Notes
Matsuchi's 25-metre platform is the shortest on JR Shikoku, and the station is the southernmost in Ehime Prefecture — the Ehime–Kōchi prefectural border lies between Matsuchi and the next station, Nishigahō.
