History

Miyoshi opened on 27 August 1913 on the Kumamoto Electric Railway Kikuchi Line, was relocated to its then-current site on 1 October 1959, and lost passing facilities and staffing on 1 April 1963. The closure of the Miyoshi–Kikuchi section on 16 February 1986 made the station the new terminus of the line. IC card access via the regional Kumamon IC Card began on 1 April 2015, and station numbering (KD19) was introduced on 1 October 2019. On 10 October 2022 the track and station were shifted about 200 metres south-east as part of the Kōshi city land-readjustment project, and a staffed ticket window and a bus-and-taxi turnaround were built into the new layout.

Notes

Until track between Miyoshi and Kikuchi was withdrawn in 1986, replacement buses entered the station forecourt and used the platform itself as a cross-platform interchange with the train.
