Station

Nihongiguchi

二本木口

History

Nihongi-guchi opened on 24 December 1959 on the Kumamoto City tram Tasaki Line as stop 2. It was moved on 26 April 2010 to a side-reservation layout. On 26 July 2024 a tram derailment at the points between Tasaki-bashi and Nihongi-guchi suspended service through this stop until 28 July.

Notes

The stop is named after Nihongi, a district just east across the Tsuboi River that used to be a famous Edo-era pleasure quarter. The stop itself stands in Kasuga — but the Nihongi name had stayed so well known that it was chosen anyway.
