Nagasaki Station

長崎駅前

History

The tram stop opened on the Nagasaki Electric Tramway Main Line in front of Nagasaki Station, the line's namesake terminal junction. Service was suspended after the 9 August 1945 atomic bombing and restored on 1 February 1946 along with the Urakami-ekimae – Nagasaki-ekimae segment. The stop sits where the Main Line and Sakura-machi branch line diverge — providing a connection to the JR Nagasaki Station — and the JR station itself underwent major elevation works from 2013, with the new elevated platforms opening on 28 March 2020. The 23 September 2022 opening of the Nishi Kyushu Shinkansen ended long-distance limited-express service at the adjacent JR station. It is stop number 27 on the Main Line.
