History
Dejima opened on 16 November 1915 as Suehiro-machi on the same day the Nagasaki Electric Tramway started service. It was renamed Dejima-Ganpeki-mae ("Dejima Wharf Front") in late August 1939, abolished in January 1944 with the wartime express timetable, and reopened in December 1947 with the present name. The platforms were rebuilt on 30 March 1999 with a new canopy, raised platform and ramp, and lengthened on 29 June 2007. The stop sits at the edge of the reconstructed Dejima trading-post site and is stop number 30 on the Main Line.

Notes
The narrow lane between Dejima and Shinchi-Chūkagai is the only segment of the entire network that retains the road width of the 1915 opening — it's also the only stretch where road vehicles are officially permitted to drive within the tram trackway.
