History
Ebino Iino Station opened on 1 October 1912 as Iino Station, an intermediate stop on the Japanese Government Railways' new Miyazaki Line between Yoshimatsu and Kobayashi. The track was redesignated as part of the Nippō Main Line in 1923 and then split off as the Kitto Line in 1932. The current concrete-block station building was completed on 26 August 1960, partly funded by a 4-million-yen bond purchased by the then town of Iino. Freight operations ended in 1980 and baggage handling in 1984. JR Kyushu inherited the station at the 1 April 1987 privatisation. It was renamed Ebino Iino on 1 November 1990 following the merger that created Ebino City.
