History

Nakasu-dōri Station is a Kagoshima City Tram Tōsō Line tram stop in Kami-arata-chō, Kagoshima. It was opened on 1 October 1950 by the Kagoshima City Transportation Section (today the Kagoshima City Transportation Bureau). Only Route 2 uses the stop. The two side platforms can be crossed at any time the tram is not passing, and both platforms are restricted to standard wheelchairs because the platform width is below the regulation minimum for powered chairs. The stop is unstaffed and tickets are not sold on site. Nakasu-dōri sits beneath the Akebono Overpass, which connects through the Buoka Tunnel onto the Kyūshū Expressway at Kagoshima Interchange.

Notes

Just outside the stop, the Nakasu-dōri / Akebono Overpass enters the Buoka Tunnel, which leads directly to the Kagoshima Interchange on the Kyūshū Expressway — making this tram stop one of the closer city-tram links to the expressway network.
