History

Urasoe-Maeda Station opened on 1 October 2019 as part of the Okinawa Urban Monorail (Yui Rail) extension from Shuri to Tedako-Uranishi, in the second district of Maeda, Urasoe. Designated station 18, it is the closest stop to central Urasoe and the northernmost station in Okinawa Prefecture. The original provisional name was "Maeda Station," with the City of Urasoe proposing "Urasoe Gusuku Station"; the present name was finalised on 26 December 2014. The station is an elevated structure with an island platform serving two tracks, and Suica IC-card use began on 10 March 2020.
