History
Omoromachi Station opened on 10 August 2003 as part of the inaugural Naha Airport–Shuri segment of the Okinawa Urban Monorail (Yui Rail). The station had been planned under the working name "Makabi Station" after a neighbouring district, but was renamed before opening. It serves the Omoromachi Shintoshin (New City Centre) area, which redeveloped land returned from a former US military base, and the elevated structure runs directly above Japan National Route 330 alongside Asato and Furujima stations.
