History
Shuri Station opened on 10 August 2003 as the original eastern terminus of the Okinawa Urban Monorail (Yui Rail). It had been planned under the working name "Tera Station" after a local neighbourhood. The station serves central Shuri and access to Shuri Castle. From the inaugural opening until 2019 only platform 2 was in regular use for turn-back services to Naha Airport; platform 1 was activated as an arrivals-only track in September 2019 ahead of the 1 October 2019 extension to Tedako-Uranishi, after which Shuri became an intermediate station.
