History

Utsunomiya-daigaku Yōtō Kyanpasu Station (no. 06) is an Utsunomiya Light Rail Utsunomiya-Haga LRT Line tram stop in Yōtō 5-chōme, Utsunomiya, built at the intersection of Tochigi Prefectural Route 64 (Utsunomiya-Mukōda) and Utsunomiya Municipal Routes 5200 / 1726, and adjoined by the Utsunomiya-daigaku Yōtō Kyanpasu Transit Centre. The provisional name during planning was "Bell Mall-mae", but it was disqualified because the naming standard forbids "specific personal, corporate, or organisational names" — though Bell Mall did purchase the sub-name "Bell Mall-mae". The stop's name was decided on 23 April 2021, and it opened on 26 August 2023. The stop has a staggered two-platform layout with platforms 3.28 m wide — wider than the 2.2 m standard at most opposed / staggered platforms on the line.

Notes

The stop's platforms are 3.28 m wide — about 50% wider than the 2.2 m standard at other Utsunomiya LRT opposed / staggered platforms — because the adjoining transit centre at Bell Mall is forecast to be the busiest non-terminus interchange on the line, with feeder buses to the Bell Mall shopping centre, Utsunomiya University and three discontinued JR Bus Kanto routes.
