History

Sakuranamiki Station opened on 16 March 2024 on the Nishitetsu Tenjin-Ōmuta Line in Hakata-ku, Fukuoka, with station number T08. It is operated by Nishi-Nippon Railroad (Nishitetsu). The stop was constructed as part of the continuous grade-separation project that elevated the line between Zasshonokuma Station and Shimoōri Station, which began work in 2010. An earlier plan would have relocated Zasshonokuma Station onto the site; instead, after a 2007 revision, a separate new station was built and Zasshonokuma remained in place. Construction details were first announced on 19 November 2021, and the station name "Sakuranamiki" was finalised on 27 July 2022 from a public competition.
