History
Nishi-Shoro Station opened on 28 March 1941 as a signal stop on the Japanese Government Railways, with freight cars of the Meiji Mining Shoro private line working from here to Shoro Station between 1941 and the closure of the colliery in 1964. The site was upgraded to a temporary stop on 1 April 1951 to handle passengers and promoted to a full station on 5 March 1952. Freight was discontinued in 1969, and after privatisation on 1 April 1987 the station passed to JR Hokkaido. A consigned ticket window operated by the town of Shiranuka ran until 29 July 2005, after which the station became unstaffed.
