History

Odaka Station is on JR East's Jōban Line in Higashi-machi, Odaka-ku, Minamisōma, Fukushima Prefecture. It opened on 11 May 1898 as a station of the private Nippon Railway, was nationalised on 1 November 1906, and came under JR East on 1 April 1987. The station was closed from 11 March 2011 after the Tōhoku earthquake and Fukushima Daiichi accident; the Odaka–Haranomachi section reopened on 12 July 2016, and the Namie–Odaka section followed on 1 April 2017. The Sendai-area Suica zone was extended to Odaka on 14 March 2020 (north-bound only) and the station was unstaffed all day from the same date.
