History

Myōjin Station opened on 1 November 1929 on the Tōbu Nikkō Line in the city of Nikkō, Tochigi Prefecture, where it sits 81.3 kilometres from the line's starting point at Tōbu-Dōbutsu-Kōen. The stop was destaffed on 1 September 1973, with simple-commission ticketing taking over briefly before that arrangement also ended. From 17 March 2012 Tōbu introduced systemwide station numbering, and Myōjin became TN-22. The station has two opposed side platforms linked by a footbridge, plus separate exits on each side, and continues to serve local trains only — Tōbu's express services pass through without stopping.
