History

Shizuwa Station is a Tobu Railway station on the Nikkō Line, located 37.3 km from Tōbu-Dōbutsu-Kōen and numbered TN-09. It opened on 1 April 1929, the day the Sugito (now Tōbu-Dōbutsu-Kōen)–Shin-Kanuma section entered service, originally under the name Tōbu-Izumi Station (東武和泉駅). The station was renamed Shizuwa just three months later, on 1 July 1929, after the surrounding area. The current layout is a single island platform serving two tracks linked to a wooden station building west of the tracks by an underpass. PASMO-compatible ticket gates are installed, and station numbering was added on 17 March 2012.

Notes

The station's first name, Tobu-Izumi (東武和泉), survived only three months — one of the shortest-lived original station names on the Tobu Nikko Line.
