History

Takasaka Station opened on 1 October 1923 on the Tobu Tojo Line in what is now Higashimatsuyama, Saitama. A freight branch known as the Takasaka external siding linked the station to the Chichibu Mining and Nihon Cement private lines between October 1955 and July 1984. The station building was rebuilt in April 1986, gaining a western entrance, and the present island platform layout was created by widening the down-line platform and shifting the down track into a former siding. Automatic ticket gates arrived in March 1992, an elevator in March 2010, and station numbering TJ-28 in March 2012. From the March 2023 timetable revision the station became a Rapid Express stop.

The 1986 station building, with its triangular clock tower and Nordic styling, won the inaugural Saitama Architectural Landscape Prize in 1987 and was selected for the Kanto Station Hundred in 1999.
