History
Kobayashi Station opened on 10 August 1901 as a passenger and freight stop on the original Narita Railway, between Kioroshi and Anjiki. Nationalisation of the Narita Railway on 1 September 1920 brought it into the Japanese Government Railways and later JNR. Freight handling ended on 1 November 1961, the Abiko–Narita section was electrified on 1 October 1973, and the station joined JR East at privatisation on 1 April 1987. Suica became usable on 18 November 2001. The Midori-no-Madoguchi closed on 15 September 2014; a new elevated station building and free passage entered provisional use that 9 November, with the full rebuild completed on 16 September 2015.

On tickets the station appears as “(Nari) Kobayashi” to distinguish it from the Kobayashi Station on JR Kyushu’s Kitto Line.
