History

Higashi-Matsudo Station opened on 31 March 1991 on the third-sector Hokuso Line as a single island platform with two tracks. JR East opened its Musashino Line platforms here on 14 March 1998 in response to local petitions and partial funding by Matsudo City. From 14 February 2009 the Hokuso section became an express-stopping junction with the addition of an upper platform; the four-track passing layout entered full use later that year. On 17 July 2010 the Keisei Narita Sky Access service began at the Hokuso platforms. The JR ticket-window office closed on 31 March 2014 and JR East began operating Higashi-Matsudo as a contracted station on 20 October 2015.

Notes

Keisei originally planned to skip Higashi-Matsudo with its Sky Access limited-express services; the stop was added only after lobbying by Chiba Prefecture, Matsudo City and several Musashino-Line authorities along the route.
