History
Nerima-Takanodai Station opened on 7 December 1994 on the Seibu Ikebukuro Line in Takanodai 1-chōme, Nerima, Tokyo, as part of the Ikebukuro Line elevation and quadruple-tracking project; its original working name was "Higashi-Shakujii Station". Through services to the Tokyo Metro began on 26 March 1998. A turnback siding installed in 2001 enabled selected Metro through-trains to terminate here from 15 December that year; that siding was abolished on 23 June 2012, and the 30 June 2012 timetable revision then ended the turnback services entirely; the physical crossover was removed in January 2013. Station numbering on 1 April 2012 (fiscal 2012) assigned the code SI09, and through-running to Yokohama and Motomachi-Chūkagai via the Tōkyū Tōyoko Line began on 16 March 2013.

Notes
Both departure melodies in use since 31 January 2015 were composed by elementary-school students whose entries to Seibu Group's 2014 "Children's Cheer Project" included a wish to have their melody played at a Seibu station; Minoru Mukaiya arranged them for use.
