History
Kanegafuchi Station opened on 1 April 1902 with the Azumabashi (now Tokyo Skytree)–Kita-Senju section of the Tōbu Isesaki Line, the line now branded the Tōbu Skytree Line in Sumida, Tokyo. The track layout through the station was reworked in 2003 to a Shinkansen-style two-platform, four-track configuration with two centre passing tracks, ahead of the start of through running with the Tokyo Metro Hanzōmon Line. Station numbering on 17 March 2012 made it TS 06, and departure melodies were introduced on 27 September 2012. The station's tight horizontal curve still limits passing trains to 45 km/h.

Notes
Kanegafuchi was the founding location of the textile firm Kanegafuchi Spinning (now succeeded by Kracie) and its chemicals spin-off Kanegafuchi Chemical Industry (today Kaneka); both companies took their original names directly from the area around the station.
