History

Tokyo Skytree Station opened on 1 April 1902 as Azumabashi Station, the original Tokyo terminus of the Tobu line that became the Isesaki Line. It was closed in 1904, reopened in 1908 for freight, renamed Asakusa Station in 1910, and renamed Narihirabashi Station on 25 May 1931 when the present Asakusa terminus opened to the south. Ahead of the opening of Tokyo Skytree in May 2012, the station was renamed Tokyo Skytree Station on 17 March 2012 and assigned station number TS-02. A new elevated southbound platform was opened on 27 November 2022 as part of a track-elevation project that eliminated the level crossing to the east of the Skytree complex.

Notes

The station's English name is officially rendered in all capitals as "TOKYO SKYTREE Station", and Tobu treats it as a single station with neighbouring Oshiage for fare-calculation purposes; PASMO/Suica history printouts display the station as "SKYTREE".
