History
Kugayama Station opened on 1 August 1933 as a Teito Electric Railway stop on what is now Keio's Inokashira Line. Through a series of wartime corporate mergers the operator changed to Odakyū Electric Railway in May 1940, Tokyo Kyūkō (Daitōkyū) in May 1942, and finally Keiō Teito Electric Railway when the company was demerged from Tōkyū in June 1948. The station was rebuilt as an over-track structure between February and December 2005, replacing an older ground-level building on the north side that was connected to the platform by an underground passage. Station numbering IN14 was introduced on 22 February 2013, and platform doors entered service on 22 December 2024.

Notes
Kugayama is the only Inokashira Line express stop that offers neither cross-platform transfer to another line nor express-local connections.
