History

Hiyoshi Station serves Kohoku-ku in Yokohama and is shared by Tokyu Corporation and the Yokohama City Transportation Bureau. The Tokyu side opened on 14 February 1926 as an original Toyoko Line station, and the area is regarded as Tokyu's birthplace because the hillside northwest of the station was the first land bought by the Toyoko Electric Railway. Major rebuilds in 1936 and 1991 produced today's half-submerged four-track layout, with the adjacent Tokyu department store opening in November 1995. The Yokohama Subway Green Line opened on 30 March 2008 and the Meguro Line was extended here on 22 June 2008. The Tokyu Shin-Yokohama Line, branching toward the Sotetsu network, opened on 18 March 2023.

Notes

Hiyoshi was selected as one of the 'Top 100 Stations of the Kanto Region' in 1999, cited for the soft light that pours into its four-story atrium.
