History

Ichida Station opened on 13 March 1923 as a general station of the Ina Electric Railway in what was then Ichida-mura, Shimoina District, Nagano Prefecture. For its first five days it served as the line's terminus following the extension from Yamabuki; on 18 March 1923 the line extended to Motozenkōji, making Ichida a through station. The Ina Electric line was nationalised on 1 August 1943 as part of the Iida Line. In June 1961 the Sanroku flood buried nearby tracks in Tenryū River debris. A new station building was completed in February 1969, and on 1 April 1987 operation passed to JR Central. A further new station building followed in February 2009.

Notes

Although the station opened as a through stop in 1923, it served as the Ina Electric Railway's terminus for just five days while the next-stage extension to Motozenkōji was being readied.
