History
Iida Station is the main station of Iida, Nagano Prefecture, on the JR Central Iida Line, 129.3 km from the line's starting point at Toyohashi. It opened on 3 August 1923 as the terminus of the Ina Electric Railway extension from Motozenkōji, and became a through station when the line reached Inayawata in December 1926. Nationalisation on 1 August 1943 placed it on the JNR Iida Line. The second station building dates from November 1960 and the current third building, with its red apple-themed roof, was completed on 7 February 1992. JR Central inherited the station at privatisation on 1 April 1987.

Notes
The 1992 station building's red domed roof and apple motifs symbolise the city's recovery from the 1947 Iida great fire, often associated with the apple trees lining its main street.
