History
The station opened on 15 October 1976 on the Tokyu Den-en-toshi Line as Minami-Machida Station, the name combining the former 'Minami' village area with Machida City's name and its position at the city's southern edge. It was the first station in Machida City to have an in-gate elevator (April 2000) and was the first Japanese railway station to embed solar panels into its platform canopy (May 2000). Express stops began as a seasonal trial in 2000, weekend Express stops became permanent in March 2006, and Semi-Express stops were added in June 2014. Coinciding with the Grandberry Park redevelopment, the station was renamed Minami-machida Grandberry Park Station on 1 October 2019, when all Express services began stopping on weekdays as well.
