History
Kokufu Station opened on 13 October 1948 on the Japanese National Railways' San'in Main Line, inserted between Ebara and Toyooka in what was then Kōfu Village, Kinosaki District, Hyōgo Prefecture. Freight handling ceased on 1 October 1961, and the station was made unstaffed on 15 December 1970 when parcel duties were also withdrawn. A pedestrian tunnel beneath the tracks was completed in 1971. With the 1 April 1987 breakup of JNR the stop joined JR West, and on 1 October 2022 came under the West Japan Railway Company's Kinki Statutory Headquarters Fukuchiyama Management Section. The station has two opposed embankment platforms but no station building or proper entrance gate.
