History
Kega Station's site first appeared on 5 February 1927 as the provisional Kega-shūten terminus when the Ina Electric Railway extended its line from Ina-Yawata; the formal Kega Station opened on 8 April 1927 once the line was pushed further to Dashina, and the temporary terminus closed the same day. With wartime nationalisation on 1 August 1943 the Ina Electric line became part of the Iida Line and the stop joined the Ministry of Railways' network. Boarding-station restrictions were lifted on 1 April 1971, and on 1 December 1971 outsourced operation ended and the station was made unstaffed. It joined JR Central with the 1 April 1987 breakup of JNR. The station, in Kega, Iida, Nagano Prefecture, has a single ground-level side platform serving one track, no station building, and a small platform shelter.
