History

Kashiwadai Station opened on 17 August 1975 on the Sagami Railway Main Line, set roughly 300 metres towards Ebina from the older Ōtsuka-Hommachi Station, which was renamed and relocated the same day as Sagamino. The Kashiwadai Engineering Works, predecessor of today's Kashiwadai Rolling Stock Center, had been completed on the site on 9 April 1967. The former Ōtsuka-Hommachi station building was repurposed as Kashiwadai's east-side building and its platforms as a connecting passage, before the east building was entirely rebuilt on 20 March 1997. The Kashiwadai district administrative office was abolished and merged into the Ebina district on 16 September 2013. Platform doors entered service on platforms 3 and 4 on 5 December 2021 and on platforms 1 and 2 on 19 December 2021.
