History
Tokishi Station is on the JR Central Chūō Main Line in Toki, Gifu, 353.7 km from the line's official starting point in Tokyo. It opened on 21 December 1902 as Tokitsu Station when the official line was extended from Tajimi to what is now Nakatsugawa. In January 1922 the privately operated Dachi Railway introduced its own adjacent Shin-Tokitsu Station, which was consolidated with the JGR facility in March 1928. The station was renamed Tokishi on 1 July 1965 to reflect the surrounding municipality, and at JNR's privatisation on 1 April 1987 it passed to JR Central. ICOCA's TOICA card became usable from 25 November 2006.

Notes
Until 1972 the Tono Railway's Dachi Line shared the station; service ended when a bridge washed out that July, and the line was formally closed in October 1974 after repair attempts failed.
