History
Aseri Station serves the JR West San'in Main Line in the town of Kyōtamba, Funai District, Kyoto Prefecture, 60.7 kilometres from the line terminus at Kyoto. It opened on 11 February 1957 as an unstaffed passenger halt and gained a passing loop in October 1966. The station passed to JR West at the 1987 privatisation. It now has two opposed side platforms on an embankment, connected to the access lane by an underground passage. A March 2021 timetable revision restored all stopping services; until then a small share of locals had been timetabled to pass through. In fiscal 2016 it averaged 28 passengers per day.
