History

Ina-Kozawa Station opened on 1936-12-30 with the Sanshin Railway's extension between Kowada and Mitsushima (now Hiraoka), and became part of the nationalised Iida Line on 1943-08-01. Freight handling ended on 1971-12-01 and the station was destaffed on 1984-02-24 when the southern Iida Line moved to CTC control. It passed to JR Central with privatisation on 1987-04-01, and gained a new waiting room on 2000-02-12. The remote, unstaffed pair of opposed platforms now appears on the seasonal Iida-Line "hikyō-eki" (secluded station) tourist runs.

Notes

A wild cherry tree on the platform is reputed to be the earliest-flowering cherry in Nagano Prefecture, and its blooms are reported annually in local news as a herald of spring.
