History

Yusato Station opened on 1 May 1935 as a station on the San'in Main Line operated by the Ministry of Railways, between Maji and Yunotsu in what is now the city of Ōda, Shimane Prefecture. Freight handling ceased on 23 September 1961, and from 1 June 1968 the station became an outsourced operation. Parcel handling was abolished and staff withdrawn on 20 June 1977, leaving the station unmanned. With the 1 April 1987 privatisation of the Japan National Railways, Yusato became a station of JR West, where it remains a single-platform local stop served only by ordinary trains.
