History
Moto Kasadera Station opened on 19 March 1917 as Kasadera Station on the Aichi Electric Railway, the predecessor of today's Meitetsu Nagoya Main Line. With the Aichi Electric Railway's 1935 merger into the Nagoya Railroad it passed to Meitetsu, and on 1 June 1943 it was renamed to its present form to avoid confusion with the new JGR Kasadera station on the Tōkaidō Main Line. The two opposed island platforms with four passing tracks were laid down in November 1959. Tranpass arrived in September 2004 and was replaced by manaca in February 2011. Step-free access was added in March 2022, and the station was finally de-staffed on 21 December 2024.

Notes
The pillars holding up the platform canopy were salvaged from the Illinois Railway, and the stamped maker's marks are still legible in several spots along the awning supports.
