History

Minami-Yashiro Station opened on 24 October 1955 as a new halt between Furuichi and Sasayamaguchi on the Japanese National Railways Fukuchiyama Line, serving diesel passenger services and operating without staff from the outset. With the privatisation of JNR on 1 April 1987 the station passed to West Japan Railway Company (JR West). The line was branded "JR Takarazuka Line" from 13 March 1988. The single platform was rebuilt into two opposed side platforms on 8 March 1997 when the surrounding section was double-tracked, and ICOCA IC-card service began on 1 November 2003. Station numbering JR-G68 was introduced on 17 March 2018. The station is located in Tamba-Sasayama, Hyōgo Prefecture.
