History

Ashiyagawa Station opened on 16 July 1920 with the Hanshin Kyūkō Electric Railway's (later Hankyu) Kobe Line, in Ashiya, Hyōgo Prefecture; it remains the only station on any Hankyu line within Ashiya. The station building was rebuilt in 1957. The Great Hanshin earthquake of 17 January 1995 closed the station, with Kobe Line service restored in stages through to full reopening on 12 June 1995. Station numbering HK-10 was introduced on 21 December 2013. The two opposed elevated platforms straddle the Ashiya River, with the station building anchored on the west bank.
