History

The station opened on 12 April 1905 as Naruo Station (鳴尾駅) on the inaugural Hanshin Main Line, after local landowners around the village of Naruo donated land for the route. Between 2009 and 2017 the stretch through the station was elevated as part of a continuous grade-separation project: the westbound platform moved up in March 2015 and the eastbound platform in March 2017. Station numbering HS-13 was introduced on 1 April 2014. On 1 October 2019, following Hanshin's comprehensive partnership with Mukogawa Women's University, the station was renamed Naruo - Mukogawajoshidai-Mae to reflect its proximity to the campus, and platform-edge gates entered service in February 2026.

Notes

The elevated station's architectural design was led by an in-house studio at Mukogawa Women's University, with the university's graduate students in architecture and urban design participating in the project.
